Stress ManagementThe frantic pace of our lives, multiple demands on our time, the expectation of multitasking, and the requirement of constant availability via cell phones or emails have left us, as a nation, stressed and anxious. That is without factoring in our own personal stressors. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn as a medical intervention  to help patients facing serious illness reduce stress and manage stress. It has since become a gold standard of treatment of psychological stressors also.

Seeking Treatment

Stress Management is a series of easy to learn techniques and tools such as breathwork, movement, body scans, focused meditation, boundary setting and other  practices. The key word is practice. We want to practice our learned skills so they are handy at times of stress or upset. Trying to apply them in the moment, without them having become semi automatic doesn't fully work. The rewards are great and worthwhile to make our lives more manageable.
